Still Broken

Sunset. Ursula froze where she stood, the sight through the window enough to take the young queen’s breath away, even as its beauty went unnoticed.
Statue-stillness turned to trembling, limbs tingling in anticipation of the old curse’s pain.
Pain that did not come.
“Sula.”
She turned, and there he was – the doctor come to heal her magic-scarred spirit; the king come to help her rule over her fear; the heart-mate come to re-break the sunset’s spell with love.
He placed himself between her and the window, and held her, erasing sunset. And Ursula knew again that she was saved.
